Biography

Jemily Rime is a singer, bassist, and songwriter based in Cambridge, UK. She grew up in Paris, France, in a musical household, starting to play the piano at just three years old. She picked up the bass as a young teen and has not let go since.

In 2016, Jemily was a semi-finalist in the international songwriting competition, which kick-started her first release - Otters mate for life (2018) - an EP showcasing her eclectic musical influences, reflecting her love of Jazz, Pop-rock, and Soul. She went on to release another EP of short musical interludes, Butterfly Minute (2022), with each track being intertwined with a piece of art.

With her new EP Phantom Feels (2026), Jemily has been exploring more intentional, emotional songwriting enhanced by fusion arrangements. The singles off this record (Angel, I Don't Think About You, Kinda Liked It) have garnered very positive feedback, being featured on BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire, becoming New Music Generator's One To Watch, as well as getting played on local radios across the world, and written about in countless publications (e.g. Bassiste Magazine, Popdust, InMusic, Bored City...).

Jemily has been relentlessly performing this new material across stages in France and the UK, headlining and selling out iconic venues like the Sunset Sunside (Paris) or the Spice of Life (London), and consistently bringing out crowds to sing along to her odd-meter pop songs.

In parallel to writing and performing, Jemily is an audio researcher and academic, interested in all things new technologies for production, especially in the area of music and sound computing and immersive audio. She holds a PhD in Music from the University of York (2025), and is currently a professor at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama.
